UConn Chemistry proudly collaborates with many academic institutions around the world. Among them, UConn has established student exchange opportunities in China and in Scotland.

China

Since 2012, the Chemistry Department has been actively developing international collaborations with other Universitas 21 institutions (the leading global network of research universities), such as Fudan University and Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) in China.

Over the years, UConn has welcomed undergraduate students from Fudan University and SJTU to participate in summer research in Storrs, Connecticut. Conversely, Fudan University has invited UConn students to participate in research in Shanghai, China.

While in Shanghai, the students have the opportunity to actively engage in research projects within the laboratories of their faculty host.

Two UConn students are selected to participate each summer through a competitive application process.

Scotland

Students can spend a semester, a summer, or a whole academic year at the highly prestigious University of Edinburgh in the United Kingdom. You can either take classes there or spend your time working on a project in one of the wide range of research groups’ labs. Experience outstanding chemistry and culture, and live in one of the most beautiful and historic cities in the world. For more details, contact Dr. Nicholas Leadbeater.
