The Chemistry Department at the University of Connecticut (UConn) seeks applications for a full time tenure-track position to begin in August 2017. All areas of organic, bioorganic, or biological chemistry will be considered, with preference given to candidates whose research contributes to the above initiatives and complements that of current faculty.
The successful applicant should have postdoctoral experience and is expected to develop a nationally and internationally competitive research program, evidenced by high impact publications and strong extramural funding. Teaching excellence at undergraduate and graduate levels and engagement in service activities are also anticipated. Successful candidates will also be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their research, teaching, and/or public engagement the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; and provide leadership in developing pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests.
A Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in chemistry or a closely related field in hand by the time the appointment begins; outstanding record of research accomplishments in Chemistry or a related field; and strong oral and written communication skills.
Postdoctoral experience; commitment to effective teaching, integrating technology into instruction, on-line instruction; and the ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.
This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track positions with an anticipated start date of August 2017. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
