Research Interests

Our laboratory utilizes organic synthesis, biological chemistry, and various optical methods to develop chemical tools for the selective visualization and manipulation of target phenomena in physiological environments. These include small molecules, bio-conjugates, and other materials that respond to specific stimuli by altering optical properties and/or releasing biologically active molecular cargo. We aim to apply these tools to probe basic and therapeutic questions regarding microbial-host interactions in the context of the microbiome, cancer, and infectious disease.
