Research Interests

Our group’s research uses flow chemistry as a platform to provide reproducibility, efficiency, and access to controlled reaction conditions. We apply this approach to a broad range of applications within organic chemistry, including the development of new reactions (photochemical, thermal, bi-/tri-phasic, catalytic, etc.), mechanistic studies, multistep syntheses, and process development. These studies include aspects and applications of computational chemistry, chemical engineering, software engineering and automation, machine learning, as well as instrument design/development. Projects in the group have ranged from multistep API syntheses, singlet oxygen oxidations, prediction of stereoselectivity using machine learning, the development of automated platforms for single or multistep flow synthesis, as well as a range of other topics. Our goal is to continuously identify and address challenging gaps in the literature and to pursue project that do not have a clear path at the onset.
